He Does Not Forsake Those Who Rely Upon Him

I grabbed this quote from George Mueller's autobiography.

"I longed to set something before the children of God whereby they might see that he does not forsake, even in our day, those who rely upon him."

Steve and I have been blessed to live this for years now. Please don't get me wrong, it's not easy, although easier than it used to be.

The older I get, and the more I read the Scriptures, the more I see our utter reliance on God. The Israelites were chastised many times for not trusting in Him alone...

A lesson I am learning over and over .... Every single day.

 Jeremiah 2:13-
for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken l me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.

The Israelites kept running to other nations and their gods to be their savior. It led to their destruction.

And God keeps me dependent. I need it. It's too easy to try to trust in myself. Or Steve. Or any other number of idols.

So He puts me in a place of complete brokenness and illness. He makes it so that He is the ONLY escape. He makes me lose relationships. He destroys my pride.

And He crushes idol. After idol. After idol.

And yes, He's healing me physically.
But He's also changing me.
A change that desperately needed to be done.

He is the potter. I'm the clay.

In Christ,
